La Guitarra (Rune Lindbaek Pikes mix) (4:51)
La Guitarra (Danilo Braca Deep In Brooklyn remix) (10:17)
Review: Ibiza legend and all round well respected industry man Chris Coco is back with more of his seaside sounds. This time his Mediterranean magic is cast over 'La Guitarra' which as the title hints has Flamenco style acoustics with tropical house drums and heartfelt synths. There is a pair backed and delicious dub also, and then modern disco don Rune Lindbaek comes through with a mesmeric take that is laidback and lush in its design. Last of all is Daniel Braca with a Deep In Brooklyn remix thing brings some fine Latin house styles.

Review: Larry Heard once said that he stumped upon his trademark dusty deep house sound rather by mistake - he was simply trying to recreate the instrumental disco of his childhood on the limited machinery he had available at the time. Either way, he went on to explore and exploit its most spiritual and spine-tinging aspects across a faultless discography that often looks to the cosmos for inspiration. That is true of this second volume of his Around The Sun album on his own Alleviated Records. It's another fine showcase of Chicago house, deep house, jazz and r&b that is utterly timeless.

Review: Spacetalk Records returns from a period of hibernation with something special: a new collection of ultra-rare, little-known nuggets from label co-founder Danny McLewin AKA Skyrager. Unlike his previous compilations as part of Psychemagik, there's no killer concept behind Traces of Illusion, just a desire to share some of the dusty obscurities he's found during years of determined crate digging. Musically, it's a mixture of psychedelic folk, leftfield synth-pop oddities, blue-eyed soul, acid-fried blue-eyed soul, Balearic boogie, Americana, ambient jazz, AOR, late 80s dancehall-soul and even a spot of grizzled progressive rock. In other words, it's as educational as it is entertaining, and packed to the rafters with private press treats and impossible-to-find curiosities.

Review: Jim Baron is a well-known DJ, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who co-founded Crazy P and who assumed new alias Jim for solo work back in 2021. His debut album Love Makes Magic is a superb mix of lush harmonic vocals, with funky back beats and a mix of organic brass and electronic synth sounds. It is music based around the work of the guitar but with plenty of sunny but eyed soul and subtle beach vibes that make it a gorgeous listen, especially as the days get longer and the sun that bit warmer.

Review: From the dedicated Neopolitan archivists Periodica comes a holy grail reissue of a deep cover, highly coveted release from 1983. The groove on Tonino Balsamo's 'Sta Guagliona Mo Dda' is an absolute neck-snapper, with the toughest drum machine beat carrying slinky b-lines and slick synth lines alike while Balsamo flows in a semi-rap style over the top. It's a monster given a fresh master to cut it with any modern jam you care to throw its way in the mix, and the instrumental is on hand for those who want to zero in on that throbbing arpeggio. Also watch out for the dirty beatdown 'Voglia E Mare', which lays the synths on even thicker.

Review: Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy's first White Isle-inspired compilation, Balearic Breakfast (named in honour of her long-running radio show) rightly won plenty of plaudits, in part because her musical definition of 'Balearic' (a notoriously hard-to-tie-down genre) was eclectic, colourful and personal. As you'd expect, this sequel builds on the sound and success of that set by offering up another 12 top-notch treats, many of which have never appeared on vinyl before. Highlights are plentiful throughout, from the sun-soaked psychedelic nu-disco excellence of Manalo's 'Amalfi Drive', Todd Terje's classic 2000s rework of Dolle Jolle's 'Balearic Incarnation' and Calm's self-explanatory 'Mellow Mellow Acid Dub' of Gallo's 'Abysso', to Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve's sublime revision of Midlake's 'Roscoe' and Murphy's own rework of 'Love Scenes' by Hard Feelings.

Review: Leftifled's Leftism remains one of the great dance music albums of all time. It came back in the 90s when no one was making full lengths that really made the most of the format: This is not a collection of club tracks but a musical voyage through dub, techno, bass and house that is meticulously designed and all-consuming once you turn it up nice and loud. In fact, it is best enjoyed in one sitting rather than in the modern playlist fashion with tracks broken up because that way the pressure is built and released, the moods ebb and flow and the music really makes an indelible impact.

Review: After being forgotten for a few years, a whole new generation of listeners has started digging into the vast back catalogue of Hull duo Fila Brazillia - a prolific outfit whose output of the 90s and noughties encompassed dreamy deep house, breakbeat-driven loved-up workouts, stoner funk and dusty downtempo gems. This fresh career-encompassing 'best of' showcases a mixture of stone-cold classics (early house single 'The Sheriff', confirmed chill-out classics 'Harmonicas Are Shite' and 'A Zed and Two Ls'), fan favourites (the decidedly Balearic 'Airlock Holmes', the undeniably funky 'Madame Le Fevre' and 'Throwing Down a Shape') and slept-on treats ('Bublehaun' and 'Little Dipper'). There's even a couple of relatively recent recordings ('Hush Hush' and the fresh 'Toro De Fuego', both of which return to the sounds explored in some of their earliest releases). In other words, it's a must-have celebration of Fila Brazilllia's often-unheralded genius.

Review: If you don't know the backstory then Fred Again and Brian Eno being on the same record might seem rather unlikely. One is an ambient innovator and long-time musical wizard who has worked with the like of David Bowie on his most seminal albums, and the other is a dance music powerhouse who has turned out plenty of pop hits under his own name and worked on even bigger ones with stars like Ed Sheehan. But as a youth, Fred was mentored by Eno, so there you go. Together they fuse their respective sounds perfectly - Fred's diary-like vocal musings over Eno's painterly synth sequences, the whole thing an immersive and escapist masterclass.

Happily, Warp has responded to the strength of feeling from electronica fans - most of whom bristled at the high online prices for second hand copies - and re-pressed it. Drexciya man James Stinson's 2001 solo set remains a timeless electronic classic; a perfectly pitched and immaculately produced fusion of downtempo electro rhythms, spacey electronics and twinkling synthesizer melodies. In fact, you'll struggle to find a better electro album full stop, making this reissue an essential purchase for anyone not lucky enough to own an original copy.

Afternoon At Barenquell (6:24)

Review: For the latest release on his admirably reliable CWPT label, Palm Trax has turned to Loket, the 'saxophonic alias' (in his words) of Berlin underground mainstay (and sometime Massimiliano Pagliara collaborator) Tahl Klainman. The four tracks on offer naturally put his emotive and entertaining sax playing front and centre, cannily combining it with all manner of stylistic influences and colourful synth sounds. He first joins the dots between trip-hop, dancefloor hip-hop and moody jazz-funk on 'All Ages', before opting for a smoother, sunnier and more bass-heavy vibe on the seriously summery 'Afternoon At Barenquell'. Over on side B, 'Sanders Groove' sounds like the missing link between DJ Cam, Portishead and Greg Foat, while 'Soft at Moonlight' is a skittish, up-tempo affair that defies easy categorisation.

Review: Composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Frank Harris has enjoyed a long and varied career. During the 1980s, he was one of the world's most esteemed Synclavier synthesiser programmers, and also recorded extensively with singer-songwriter Maria Marquez - though it took until 2019 for much of that music to be released (on the album Echoes). This 12" boasts fresh reworks of tracks from that set. Frankie Deluxe handles side A, first delivering a deliciously slow-burn revision of 'Loveroom' - all sparse, undulating synth melodies, whispers of percussion and beautiful lead vocals - before offering up a seductively summery shuffle through the samba-seeped shuffle of 'Down By The Rio'. That track is twice more remixed on the flip. First Frakas supplies a tactile, deep Balearic nu-disco tweak, before Julian Dyne offers up a deep, dubbed-out, slow-motion house take.

Review: When it came to following up their surprise 1994 hit album "Amplified Heart", Everything But The Girl's Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn decided to rip up the rulebook and do things differently. Previously, their music has been considered, downtempo and - whisper it quietly - Balearic. 1996's "Walking Wounded" retained their inherent beauty and sense of melancholia, but updated their musical blueprint to include far more influences from (then) contemporary dance music. As this half-speed re-mastered reissue proves, they largely hit the spot, with warm deep house cut "Wrong", the sparkling drum and bass pop of the title track and the similarly minded "Big Deal" standing out.

Review: Electronic music production deity James Holden returns with a circling back to his dance music roots, following a brief detour into jazz with his last album 'The Animal Spirits'. Building on an increasingly otherworldly set of inspiration - which he's gradually entertained as his career has marched on - this new LP 'Imagine' playfully dissects the possibilities of dance music from the perspective of an alternate reality. Buzzing leads, detuned leads, and international flavours evoke a modern take on sounds espoused first by the likes of Amorphous Androgynous or Charanjit Singh.

Review: A fresh and rather unusual pink wax 7" fromCanadian DJ and producer Eddie C, 'Nite Moves' shows off the artist's precision editry with eclectic production nuances and riffy glue. The A comes through with lyrically-confounding sampledelic soul flair, while the instrumental B 'Smokey Bay' grows more Balearic as it embers away. This EP truly is skilfully done, as we can't track down the original tracks Eddie's used, so let's hope your ear's curious enough revel in, and even rise to the challenging of identifying, a mysterious sample.

If you didn't know, he is the Freeze band founder who wrote, produced, funded and released the jazz-funk classic that is 'Southern Freeez'. There is a much more reflective mood to this record with global influences drawn from a life in music and lyrics that touch on many of the dilemmas we face every day. His roots growing up in the 70s era when soul, jazz and funk were all at their best shine through, but so too his love of early 80s and 90s electronica.

Review: Following on from Running Back's much-needed reissue of their seminal, saucer-eyed early 90s deep house gem 'Mermaids', Ali Tillett's Re:Warm label has decided to serve up a fresh retrospective of the sprawling career of Hull twosome Fila Brazillia. Tillett has done an excellent job too - not an easy task given the sheer size of the pair's catalogue - opting to mix kaleidoscopic early favourites (the dreamy, sunrise-ready brilliance of 'The Sheriff') and bona-fide chill-out classics (the superb 'A Zed and Two L's' and 'Harmonicas Are Shite') with stoner funk numbers from later albums ('Throwing Down a Shape', 'Airlock Holmes') and lesser-celebrated treats (the dense, slow-motion excellence of 'Neanderthal'). There's even a previously unreleased gem recorded last year: the return-to-their-roots brilliance of 'Toro De Fuego'.

It's a varied affair that pulls from a wide range of genres including leftfield, deep house, disco, Afrobeat, and even Balearic. Some of these tunes have already been picking up high-profile support from the likes of Leo Mas, Chris Coco and Danny Krivit - no wonder given that his last on the label sold out immediately. 'Sky Dive' is a nice loose limbed funky deep disco jam, 'Home Suite' has a superb new age flute lead and 'Missing Pixels' is a tribal Afro dancer. 'Mount Juniper' is the lively and tropical house number that has you dreaming of cocktails by the sea.

Review: In cahoots with legendary Japanese record store Jet Set, Freestyle Records has decided to offer-up a 45 featuring two tidy cuts from Lance Ferguson's Rare Groove Spectrum 2 album, a second set of inspired cover versions from the multi-instrumentalist, bandleader and producer. On side A the Melbourne-based musician gives his take on Azymuth classic 'Veo Sobre O Horizonte', re-imaging it as a starry, vintage synth-laden shuffle through sun-baked South American jazz-funk complete with woozy horns, Herbie Hancock keyes and eyes-closed female vocalizations. On the reverse Ferguson turns his hand to Carly Simon's 'Why', adding gorgeous horn solos and sunset-ready flourishes to a faithful re-recording of the reggae-influenced number's familiar groove.

He's a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer whose sound tick all of the textbook Balearic boxes but with a little extra magic. He shows that again here with 'Marina Del Rey', a gloriously sunny sound with lavish and lush strings and gently swaying grooves with a mix of 60s and Library vibes. After the pair's seminal self-titled debut album set a new benchmark for what was possible with a dance music full length, they managed to do it again with Rhythm & Stealth. It will be forever best known for the tune that was picked and used in the Guinness advert ('Phat Planet') but that is just one of the many highlights. The album originally came in 1999 and was nominated for the 2000 Mercury Music Prize as well as making number one on the UK Albums Chart. It is a full-fat mix of epic basslines, driving percussion and dark moods that adds up to a head-melting soundtrack to a damn good night.

This double CD bundles together both of the volumes released to date and is packed to the rafters with high-grade Balearic fare. There are some genuine big cuts included across the two discs - Murphy's own 'Cosmodelica' remix of Mildlife's 'Vapour', Ashley Beedle's sing-along rework of Lady Blackbird's 'The Stranger', Todd Terje's noughties revision of Norwegian pal Dolle Jolle and Calm's gorgeous, stretched-out 'Mellow Acid' revision of Gallo included - but also oodles of lesser-known gems of a similarly high standard. Review: Hungarian DJ and producer duo Pleasure Voyage takes us on a conceptual sonic holiday with them to Italy on Azzuro, a majestic summer soundtrack. The gorgeous record kicks off with nice upbeat Italo sounds on 'In Vacanza' while 'Summer Voyage' captures an early evening dance after a few drinks and 'Electromarea' then offers dreamy Italo deep house from the 80s complete with dusty drums and nostalgic melodies. Things get even deeper later on, always with nice rough-edged analogue sounds and lived-in grooves that bring the good times.

Deep Beneath The Ocean Waves Of Labyrinths & Coral Caves (9:54)
Review: Since making his debut as 33.10.3402 11 years ago, Nenad Markovic has built up quite a catalogue of experimental, left-of-centre musical treats, most notably via frequent outings on L.I.E.S and ESP Institute. Here he makes his bow on another label, Third World, in the process providing DJ Evan's imprint with its debut release. First up, he provides a fresh '2022 mix' of the previously compilation-only '1000 Julys', a minimalistic epic where wayward electronics, intoxicating industrial sounds, hazy chords and marimba style melodies rise above a deep, weighty bassline and sparse, shuffling drum machine beats. 'Deep Beneath The Ocean Waves Of Labyrinths and Coral Waves' is similarly informed but warmer and deeper, with melodic motifs that lap like waves, pads that wash over your soul, and beats that bubble and spit attractively.

Review: Thievery Corporation co-founder Eric Hilton is adept at many different produciton styles and he calls on most of them on this new Present Past & Future EP for Montserrat House. First up is a future jazz and jungle fusion with steamy sax motifs drifting up high over the slick drums. The tempo drops to nothing on the lush downtempo sounds of 'Put Em' Down' and 'Something For Byrd' (feat Brian Jackson) is a star-gazing after dark masterclass with wispy synths and soulful vocals. There is squelchy synth funk on 'E Plays It Cool', blissed out trip hop on 'Cold Gemini' and another 90s era acid jazz and breaks fusion to finish with 'Mind Archelogy' (feat Brian Falkowski).

Kaes On Aeg aka I Feel Like Making Love (2:54)
Review: Those delighted by Tallin's Porridge Bullet great job of documenting the late '80s and early 90s period of Estonian music and eager to learn more of the Eastern European country's music heritage should delve into the discography of Frotee. The label's latest release throws the spotlight on Estonian soul singer Velly Joonas, specifically the covers of European songs she recorded during the 1980s. "Stopp, Seisku Aeg!" (or "Stop! Stall the Time!") is a cover by Joonas of "I See Red" from Frida, with the Estonian providing her own lyrics over backing from amateur group Vstretsa and seems quite faithful to the soft skanking 1982 soul number. Complementing this is a wonderful cover of "Feel like Makin Love" which Frotee suggest was laid down in one hour.

Review: Originally issued back in 1998, Mezzanine remains the most commercially successful album released by Bristol troupe Massive Attack, thanks in no small part to the Liz Fraser-featuring "Teardrop". This third album signalled a change in sonic direction that played more explicitly on the darkness and tension that was always an undercurrent of their much loved debut Blue Lines and successor Protection. After numerous bootlegs over the years, Virgin have done the right thing and presented this official reissue of Mezzanine to appease fans of Massive Attack and it's clear the LP has lost none of it's bewitching power. The Quincy Jones and Isaac Hayes sampling "Exhange" and "Exchange" remain a delight in particular.

Review: What goes around, comes around, at least when it comes to dance music culture. The rise in new productions informed by early psy-trance and hallucinatory ambient techno jams has led to a swathe of reissues of long-forgotten releases from the 1990s. Here's another, and a chance to cop London outfit Shpongle's 1998 debut album, Are You Shpongled. As an LP, it's very much of its time, with the pair brilliantly blurring the boundaries between spacey ambient, dub, chill out room-ready downtempo grooves, intergalactic-sounding drum & bass, flute-sporting soundscapes and the kind of bustling rhythms and shroom-fuelled electronics that were once the preserve of new age travellers in brightly coloured trousers and slightly damp woolly hats.

Review: Marshmallow is an album by The Sweet Enoughs, a project by Paul Bender, Simon Mavin and Lachlan Mitchell, also members of the Australian neo-soul band Hiatus Kaiyote. Compared to the latter project, The Sweet Enoughs are relatively obscure: 'Marshmallow' was released, no less, on Wondercore, who specialise in underground rarities from Australia. With its cover looking like an old mood music compilation picked up for 50p in Oxfam, the album ironically draws on easy listening, exotica and lo-fi music, carefully playing with our assumptions and pretensions around the genres. Nevertheless, beauties like 'Lena's Song' and 'Cabin Days' present far greater substance than their faux-exotic veneer lets on. Listen and find out what lurks under paradise.

Review: The word is out, EBTG are back. The long-serving combination of Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt have moved through many phases, from their exquisite indie pop era of the 80s to the chart-topping club dalliances and premier league remixes of the 90s. Now they return with a fresh sound on this, their eleventh album, which feels wholly contemporary as well as carrying on their instinct for heart-rending songwriting, all led by Thorn's unmistakable croon. Lead single 'Nothing Left To Lose' sets the tone with a strident, bass-heavy beat that certainly doesn't try to recreate past glories, and it's still a powerful song first and foremost. This revamped approach yields an abundance of magic moments across the whole of Fuse, a stellar return from long time treasures of British independent music.

Review: Berlin-based musician, producer, and DJ Alex Kassian is well known for his solo works but also his work as Opal Sunn. Here he leaves behind the gritty and sweaty dance floor and heads out into the sun. 'Leave Your Life (Lonely Hearts Mix)' pairs live sounding drums and nice Balearic riffs with care-free feels that lift your spirits. The dance mix is more weight and propulsive and then 'Spirit Of Eden' again sets off through a clear blue sky, with twinkling chords and soft, pillowy drums. The Bill Laswell dub layers in the reverb and slows things down to a nice lazy tempo.

Review: Widely regarded as Boards of Canada's finest hour, Music Has The Right To Children finds itself the subject of a well-deserved 2LP gatefold reissue from Warp Records. One of the most defining records of what was known for better or worse as IDM still sounds as timeless as it did in 1998, as the library tones of "Wildlife Analysis", thick downtempo rhythms of "Roygbiv" and out of focus melodies of "Olson" prove. Essential!

Review: If you want hugs on the dancefloor deep into the night, Late Night Tough Guy's (formally DJ HMC) "Bless The Rains" is the perfect drug. The Adelaide based luminary rehashes Toto's "Africa" in a heavily pitched down and simple edit fit for any fromage-laced discotheque. Skirting around the throbbing bassline and triangle hits of "My Body On Fire" is a vocal that will have some train-spotters pulling their hair out in frustration, while "Not In Love Anymore" will have both Warren G/Nate Dogg and Michael McDonald fans bumping and grinding to excess.

Review: Fusion Sequence is a new offshoot from the Mellophonia label that kicks off with a heavyweight release both literally - its 180g vinyl - and metaphorically. It features seven different artists offering up one track each on what is a widescreen exploration of fresh deep house. They are A Vision of Panorama, Eternal Love, Pool Boy, Wolfey, Laseech, Larry Quest and Jay Sound and between them everything from cuddly depths to more moody late-night deepness is covered on an EP that brings plenty of new perspectives. A fine inaugural 12", then.

Review: The Mellophonia label offshoot Fusion Sequence won us over with its well-presented and great-sounding first EP, and now a quick follow-up does the same. This one is another various artists affair that starts with some nice futuristic robot disco from Vanity Project. There is more organic and lush Balearic from Bobby Bricks and Pacific Coliseum follows that spine-tingling Ibiza sunset vibe. On the flip side, there is everything from late-night electronic house to lazy disco via Sorcerer's blissed out 'Just For Love' which would entrance any dance floor. There's as much quality as there is variation on this one, which makes it a useful EP indeed.

Review: Singer, songwriter and producer Eddie Chacon has enjoyed a blooming solo career in recent years ever since the release of his album 'Pleasure, Joy And Happiness'. As it turned out, Chacon was a deft maker of lo-fi, funk and lounge bits, over which his whispery voice would effortlessly glide. The trend continues with 'Sundown', his second solo album and debut for Stones Throw. Made in Ibiza, using, among other things, what is alleged to be the only Fender Rhodes keyboard on the island, this album is yet another experimental lounge music extravaganza, not to mention a personal reflection on the self, tempered by long listening sessions to spiritual jazz in the sun.

Review: British psy-trance oddity Sphongle have been traversing the highways and byways of transcendental music culture since the late 90s, and they remain as adored within the scene as ever. Their third album, Nothing Lasts - But Nothing Is Lost is considered one of their great opuses - a twisting and turning fever dream of exotic passages, mind-warping synthesis and lysergic grooves from the studios and brains of Simon Posford and Raja Ram. Split into 20 tracks, but supposedly formed of eight phases in a cohesive dream sequence, it's the ultimate trip, and it's finally getting a repress on vinyl via Posford's legendary Twisted Records, one of the true bastions of psy-trance culture.

Featuring an impressive array of internationally acclaimed vocalists including Gregory Porter, Ricky Wilson (from Kaiser Chiefs fame), Margo Timmons, and Amythyst Kiah, Moby has also paved the way for smaller names. Collaborating with lesser known artists including P.T. Banks - discovered by Moby via a wedding band in Texas - a democratic touch that sees the iconic artist giving airtime to the talent that has naturally crossed his path. Another instant-classic from the ground-breaking musician.

Review: Ferdi Schuster's debut album, 2019's All One, was criminally overlooked when it was first released, despite containing some of the most beautiful and atmospheric music ever released by Claremont 56 (and that's saying something). If there's any justice, this arguably even better follow-up won't be ignored. Schuster, a talented multi-instrumentalist, played, recorded and produced everything on the album - something that makes it even more remarkable given the variety of instrumentation on show. This is deep, dubby, immersive and evocative downtempo music to get lost in, with Schuster subtly doffing his cap to everything from krautrock, dub, trip-hop, ambient house, jazz, Afrobeat, jazz-funk and Latin beats on sumptuously produced and executed sunset and sunrise soundtracks. In a word: sublime.

Review: Italian producer Dozzy seems to have hit a disticntly purple patch at the moment and can certainly do no wrong in the eyes of his growing array of supporters. It's not hard to see why he's so loved - his approach is unconventional (especially in the usually ultra-functional world of techno) but his productions manage to find new ways to carve a funkiness and heady momentum out of sound. Not to mention the fact they always have atmosphere by the lorryload, and this new EP for Netherlands label Afterhouse is no exception. Jump on this one while you get the chance.

This 2013 epic leant in on every dimension of Simon Ponsford and Raja Ram's sound, at once bristling with kinetic electronica energy while keeping their much-loved mysticism front and centre. It's a trip, like a Sphongle album should be, but it's also got a certain bite which more than stands up to the rigours of the modern dancefloor. One of the group's great skills has been in moving with the times while staying true to a certain deep-rooted, festival-friendly playfulness. Review: There's a reason that Massive Attack's Blue Lines frequently appears in "greatest albums" lists. To put it simply, it's brilliant, and arguably remains the Bristol-based outfit's finest work to date (though some would argue that the dark and paranoid Mezzanine is possibly better). As this weighty vinyl reissue proves, it's lost none of its hazy, dub-propelled trip-hop charm. All-time classics such as "Unfinished Sympathy", "Safe From Harm" and "Hymn of the Big Wheel" have lost none of their soulful, mood-enhancing brilliance, while lesser celebrated cuts such as "Five Man Army" and "Lately" still sound great despite their vintage.

Review: The idea that everyone's favourite modern-day TikTok button-masher and producer extraordinaire, Fred Again, would team up with historic ambient music titan Brian Eno was anyone's guess. Surprisingly, though, Brian Eno was a childhood neighbour of Fred's - of course, similar experiences beget similar creative expression. We also suppose just about anything can happen when you fall in with Kieran Hebden aka. Four Tet, who runs the label that houses this brand new record from the pair, Text Records. This surprise LP is sure to be mobbed with massive fan demand - not least due to the unlikely pairing, but also because it's gorgeous. Fred Again's pop-samplework is reworked into an entirely different context than his usual banger experiments; cuts like 'Radio' instead recall the rough heavenly-textural work of underground ambient artists on Soundcloud, with its phone-liney vocals equally reminding us of the heartfelt understatedness of tracks like Yves Tumor's 'Limerence'. Brian Eno, meanwhile, outdoes himself on the album's start-stoppy, but no less evocative structure, complementing Fred's vocal-sample-centric approach extremely well. Deeper listens confirm the heart-tugging theme: the hidden aspects of human relationships - intimacy, vulnerability, and trust.
