Leven Lever Liver Love (5:09)
Higher Higher Dawn (4:11)
Y Y Y MY (3:37)
Ark Specific (4:18)
Bullet Time (feat Older Brother) (5:20)
Review: Metrist closes doesn't a trilogy of EPs on Timedance with this third and final offering of Pollen. It is another meticulously well-crafted mix of intelligent synth design and hi-fidelity sound with inventive techno rhythms. 'Leven Lever Liver Love' opens with a hint of IDM and poppy synth madness. 'Higher Higher Dawn' is another brain-cleansing cut with a freaky vocal adding a human touch. 'Y Y Y MY' then layers up loopy sounds to melt the mind in a hyper-real fashion and 'Ark Specific' again pairs floating rhythmic airiness with bass weight and thrillingly fresh melodies. 'Bullet Time' (feat Older Brother) is a dystopian way to end this forward-thinking EP.

Review: Seven years have passed since Burial first stopped us dead in our tracks with this universally acclaimed second album.. Sounding so different, so removed and far away from anything else, it changed the game entirely - and created a whole school of imitators in its wake. Now repressed by Hyperdub, this is a rare opportunity to grab it on fresh wax. Even if you have this on other formats in your collection, the dusty weight and chasmic crackles sound so much better on vinyl.

Kara Arriba (5:52)
Siro Silo (4:47)

OXI Ambigan (5:43)
Review: The Well Street label welcomes Yushh for her debut EP. The Pressure Dome label-head (who has previously landed on Facta & K-LONE's Wisdom Teeth as well as Banoffee Pies) brings a mind-altering mix of sounds here. There is sparse and futuristic space techno on 'Kara Arriba' then deeply introspective downbeat on 'Siro Silo'. 'Dough' is a percolating rhythm piece with rubbery bass and dreamy pads while 'OXI Ambigan' floats through space next to fizzing synth details, distant nebulas and alien life forms.

Review: 'Raven' is the name of the largest species of crow in the corvid family of birds. It's also the name of the second upcoming studio album by Kelela, which comes a whopping six years after her debut Take Me Apart - making this a hotly-awaited LP to say the least. Describing the album as an expression of loneliness as a black femme working in the dance music industry, she's made sure to bring along plenty of company, making this a largely collaborative affair. You've got Kaytranada, LSDXOXO, AceMo and Fauzia on there, all working in ultra-glossy, emotive future takes on dancehall, breakbeat and ballad.

Review: Single LP Editrion: While their 50 Weapons imprint may be winding up, Modeselektor's Monkeytown imprint is still in full swing, releasing all sorts of interesting electronic music lately from producers as diverse as Robot Koch, Omar Souleyman and Howling. This time label head honchos Bronsert and Szary team up with good mate Sascha Ring aka Apparat for another session as well.. Moderat, of course! Highlights include the bittersweet and bass heavy pop inflections of "Bad Kingdom" featuring Ring's powerful vocals, the epically future beats of "Let In The Light" or "Ilona" and the upbeat dusty deep house of "Milk". Superb production on display throughout the album and don't forget to check out the killer remixes by Skee Mask and Benjamin Damage (amongst others) available soon as well.

Review: After spending eight years showcasing his wares on labels including System Music, Sector 7 Sounds and Coyote Records, deep bass music specialist Drone is ready to unveil his debut album, 'Dance With The Devil'. In keeping with his boundary-blurring approach, the 13-track set presents tracks that variously draw influence from deep dubstep, grime, electro, skwee and d&b. It's a hugely atmospheric and - it should be noted - on-point affair, with Drone being joined by a host of well-regarded collaborators including Snowy, Alix Perez, Hyroglifics, Deft and Elm. Our picks of a strong bunch include the skittish, clandestine 140 business of 'Swamp', the dubby trip-hop/deep soul of 'Ski Mask' and the breathless electro-goes-d&b flex of 'Jugtown'.

Review: Returning to the turn of the 90s, when British dance music gave birth to two interconnected styles that put heavy sub-bass front and centre: bleep techno and breakbeat hardcore. Exploring these origins, as well as their countless mutations and imitations, Dutch label Musique Pour La Danse present a major new retrospective, cherry picking the cream of the crop of 90s bleeps, breaks and bass. Featuring tracks from Terra Incognita, Tek 9, Boneshakers, Ubik, Break The Limits, Techno Excursion, Trak 1, Three Sons, and KLF, this rare and expertly curated selection of tracks is available in CD form as well as in vinyl format.

Review: Two Shell are well known for following in the mega-produced techno tradition of Overmono or Objekt. But as we all know, they set themselves well apart for their inclusion of well known R&B and pop vocal samples, easily blowing their fellow tech-heads out the water with an extra pinch of accessibility. 'Home' is a heater that has bubbled about for a while now on IOM and Reddit, curiously sampling CHINAH's 'Away From Me' and its B-side 'No Reply' sampling Dani Sylvia's 'Zachariah' - two songs which we'd wager don't need official sample clearance. Filtrating in and out of weighty downtempo-techno stomps, Two Shell capture modern hypertechno at its finest.

Review: Club Designs label head Garneau is a beat making astro who lands here on the Thirty Year Records label with Vancouver Slab party series producer Max Ulis. The Canadian underground mainstays combine to great effect with these club ready sounds that combine bass, booms and beats into potent tracks. 'Do It' layer sup jostling breakbeats with twisted synths, 'People' is a ghetto tinged house banger and 'Tulip' has a classical violin sound doing dances over deeper techno. 'Mr Sub' is a high speed thriller.

Whether it's hypnotising minimal techno ('HSS-01') or introspective IDM journeys into the deeper recesses of the mind ('Plural'), to ventures into the more off-kilter strains of the deep and atmospheric variety ('Movements') and glacial dub techno recontextualisations ('Layers Of Territory') - Dobbelaer demonstrates his high production abilities on this fine release.

Review: Cry Sugar is the all-new album from long-time Warp mainstay Hudson Mohawke. It is yet another powerful statement that looks to mix the profane with the spiritual across some thrilling club tunes. The record is said to be inspired by "90s John Williams, film scores and spectacular soundtracks" and runs a gamut of emotions with plenty of dance floor euphoria served up in an array of innovative rhythms. HudMo himself says it is "a demented OST to score the twilight of our cultural meltdown." We say - we love it.

Self Couscous (5:05)
Review: Pressure Dome's Yussh gets busy with her debut EP on Wisdom Teeth. Flexing fully across four tracks, her signature fusion of breakbeat, bass, jungle and club hits the spot in true Bristol brutalist fashion. 'Look Mum No Hands' eases us in with a dreamy, spacious halftime trip while the recent single 'Same Same' continues to keep the subtle sense of chill with its floating chords and slinky percussion. Elsewhere 'Close Fall' sounds like it could have come from the desk of Kid Drama and dBridge's Autonomic HQ while 'Self Conscious' closes on a deep space cosmic jungle/techno hybrid. No hands, no fear.

Review: Just because you pretty much know what to expect from a new release by See Mask on Munich label Ilian Tape - which in fact has its own 'Skee Series' sub-label dedicated to this artist - doesn't mean it is n't well worth having. This ninth volume in the on going project is another full of innovative breakbeats and stylish techno. 'UWLSD' is rather deft and delicate in the way it pirouttes around shuffling drums. There is also the raw slap funk of 'Studio 626' and bulkier, more shadowy breakbeats on 'Reviver'. 'Bandprobe Dub' closes in lithe and thrilling fashion.

Review: Coco Bryce can do no wrong if you ask us. The Dutch jungle connoisseur has made every style possible with the realms of electronic bass music. He explores plenty more of them here on a brilliant new double album for Fresh 86. Point of No Return is very much an album in the real sense - rather than just being a collection of tracks it is music designed with detail and invention to keep you locked in a more close listening environment. There are downtempo joints, slow motion electro rhythms, stripped back jungle sounds and tripped out electronic explorations that suspend you in the cosmos. It is another typically excellent bit of work.

Rolling at a cool mid-tempo, loaded with space, bulging with subs and swaggering with rolling breaks, both 'Fighting Fools' and 'My Life' hit with ageless dancefloor charm. The former playfully brings UKG elements into the mix while 'My Life' hits with a certain early 90s b-boy swagger that could easily be compared to the Blapps Posse. Get to know!

He is now set to start 2023 in an equally strong fashion with four more futuristic bass fusions. 'Wire' is a minimal stepper with bursts of bass and flitting percussive lines. 'Molten Drum' is another twitchy mix of malfunctioning computer sounds, refracted vocals and fizzing synths that keep you on edge then 'Machine' picks ups the pace with jumpy rhythms and militant snare work. 'Zone (Packet)' rounds out with a double-speed workout and juke patterns that head out on a cosmic journey.

While the delicacy of the Berlin-bases artist's sound is evident throughout the album, there are some welcome variations between sweet, pastoral passages and kinetic beatdowns such as 'Lotus Dive'. On the first side, you've got the contorted yet playful groove of 'Come Quick' and its nice steel drum melody, followed by the woozy cut 'Louca' taking you deep into mystical realms. Review: Given his impressive track record - his releases have been championed by such luminaries as Peggy Gou, Shanti Celeste and Ben UFO - it would be fair to say that 'Reclaim', Pepe's first album since 2016, is hotly anticipated. It was apparently inspired by the idea of a 'human free future' where the Earth has been allowed to re-wild itself. With this concept as a reference, the album's blend of spring-fresh synthesiser melodies, summery textures, ambient-leaning soundscapes, sample-rich electronic experiments and dancefloor ready grooves (there are nods to ambient house, deep house, electro and UK bass) makes perfect sonic sense. More importantly, it's a hugely enjoyable album that stands out as one carefully considered, admirably executed piece of work. In other words, it could well turn out to be one of the electronic albums of 2023.

Review: Dystopian bass pushers Sneaker Social Club return with a brand new one from fresh signee Dogpatrol. With the label setting aside its recent preference for high-concept, gritty LPs, it here tops up the dancier corner of its distinctly UK brutalist-sounding soundscape-over-time: the Snkrx series. Undulatory minimal techno, moving into a bassy electro pair from fellow pusher King Kurl, unfurls over the course of four volatile sonic concrete offcuts.

Tom Ford's reputation for innovative and sharply-focused club music precedes him and is evident across the four tracks spanning a wide range of tempos. From the crooked formation and pointillist bleeps of 'Pulse I' to the strafing techno synths of 'Pulse III' and the surefooted, bass-loaded house jack of 'Pulse IV,' the E.P. showcases Pev's skillful craftsmanship and infectious melodies. It's a release that's both fresh and unmistakably Pev, sure to leave an indelible mark on club music enthusiasts.

Review: Building from the heat of a series of bass/techno/club fusions on the likes of Intramuros and F T D over recent years, E-Unity serves up his most ambitious release to date - BBB<3. Hard to pronounce, easy to listen to; BBB<3 sees Lioc Berger flexing a softer set of shades on his palette with this wide armed display of genres. From the Ame-style rolling house music of 'Zimba Frog' to the euphoric sci-fi dancehall hip-shakes of 'Etra' and the emotion laden electro finale 'BBB<3', it's soulful salute to deeper paradigms of yore while still marching into the future.

Review: Given the hype that surrounded the release of the first Moderat set back in 2009, we can surely expect more of the same for this second outing from Apparat and Modeselektor. Those familiar with the first album's woozy blend of IDM, Thom Yorke indebted vocal dreaminess, porchlight techno and post-dubstep rhythms will immediately feel right at home. Online reviews have focused largely on II's atmospheric warmth, and the way in which the Berlin-based trio seems to have refined their sound. Both are valid critiques; certainly, there's a maturity and musical complexity to the album that betters much of their previous works. It's not much of a dancefloor set, but that's entirely the point; this is locked-in headphone listening for the wide-eyed generation.

Review: This debut release from footwork crew Teklife's label sees them pay tribute to DJ Rashad, the late, great innovator who passed away in the spring of 2014. Afterlife gathers together a collection of DJ Rashad tracks co-produced by Rashad's close friends and associates, including DJ Spinn, Traxman, DJ Manny and more. As the label themselves state, this 14 track album really conveys the wealth of musical influences and knowledge Rashad possessed with soul, hip-hop, house, techno and many more all brought together at 160 BPM. "Afterlife is our tribute to our friend and our inspiration. Rest In Peace DJ Rashad," Teklife write. Enough said. A must for all fans of Rashad.

Review: DNGDNGDNG is a new alias for Dengue Dengue Dengue! and Continentes Perdidos is the first work under this name. The album comes hot on the heels of last year's Zenit & Nadir LP, the 2018 album Son De Los Diablos and Siete Raices from 2016, so keep sup a high quality and high rate of release. With plenty of sound system influences, shadowy vocal sounds and cavernous bass, it is also run through with the jungle sounds and Peruvian rhythms that have defined this duo to date. The results are intriguing and compelling in equal measure.

Review: We might be old-fashioned (or a sucker for a marketing technique) but for us, you just can't beat a bit of untitled and anonymous techno. And that's what we have here - neither label, tracks or artists have a name but the music bangs. First up is a bouncy, playful rhythm designed to work your body, then comes another bubbly rhythmic workout with spinning hi hats and off grid hits. On the flip is a steely jungle-tinged banger with layers of drums and percussion and last of all is a more stripped-back roller for the dead of night.

Review: Beating Heart has shared the late Hugh Tracey's archive at the International Library of African Music (ILAM) with contemporary producers and keeping in line with Tracey's vision, all proceeds will be used to assist people in the areas where the music was originally recorded. This time, Warp Records and all round UK electronica legend Luke Vibert gives us the delightful oddball groove that is "Africable", Italian DJ Clap! Clap! Gives us the African polyrhythms via Detroit high-tech soul on "Kulira" while Los Angeles duo With You give us the sublime "No Resistance". Each 1500 albums sold will feed a school of 500 forever! Support a great cause and feed your ears with some wonderful music while you're at it.

Review: Following last year's Final Departure on Keysound, J Shadow returns to the realm of albums with his second LP, this time on Sneaker Social Club. Ominously titled The End Of All Physical Form, it's business as usual as J plays between the genres, murking up boundary lines with a raw sense of funk and emotional energy. Sitting somewhere between breaks, garage, grime and drum & bass, the whole body of work is a whirlwind attack of the senses that works well both for home listening and dancefloor demolishing. From the breakbeat bombardment of 'Arsu' to the much slower, undiluted eski-beat heaviness of 'Prototype' by way of the turbo charged futurist finale 'No Gravity', J Shadow has delivered something special here... And it sounds best on the physical form of a 12".

Review: Dutch artist Gamma Intel does unfamiliar things with familiar sound sources. He focusses on unreal sound design to bring his twisted metal and crunching breakbeat to life in all new ways as he mangles together light and dark, heavy and airy, brutal and beautiful. This is his first EP on the new label he has started with his pal Identified Patient and it might be his best work yet: there are heavy breaks, distorted bass cuts, hammering post-techno cuts rushing electro bangers that are all physical yet emotive in equal measure.

Free My Mind
Oh 2 B In Love
Where I Keep My Heat
Review: Not content with issuing an LP through We Can Elude Control under his Some Truths alias, eeryone's favourite trombone playing, grizzly bear loving modular synth don Ralph Cumbers sneaks out this 12" floor burner as Bass Clef. Issued by the Hypercolour affiliated Sneaker Social Club, the Present Moment Only Moment EP finds Cumbers effortlessly trying his hands at various angles of clubbing heritage, be it the charmingly off-key rave stylings of "Free Your Mind" or the frenetic and urgent 2-step romanticism of "Oh 2 B In Love". Best of all however is the digidub meets r'n'b flex of "Where I Keep My Heat". Poster fans will love the included A2 Sneaker Social Club folded print with artwork courtesy of Mighty Wright.
