Review: Remixes by 30Hz & DJ Quest. "Robots Ready From Mars" is tackled by Quest who gives the track a heavier, clubby breakbeat mix. Fits nicely next to tracks from the likes of The Stanton Warriors or Tayo.

Mercury (7:55)
Outer Limits (7:03)
After Life (6:14)
Orbits Theme (6:29)
Review: The 39 Orbits pair of Nick Annies and Twink put out only two releases and they were back in 1993. In the years since though, they have become real digger's delights that now fetch high prices on the second-hand market if and when copies come up. But not anymore - Cosmic Soup has assembled this welcome 180g 12" which features tracks from those original records as well as one previously unreleased cut. 'Mercury' is pure dreamy post-rave prog house, as is the slightly more direct 'Outer Limits.' 'After Life' is high-speed house with lush synth work and 'Orbit's Theme' gets more deep and inwardly reflective.

New Horizons (6:08)
Review: There's messing about on this fresh 12" from Abdul Raeva, a duo made up of Joonas Arro and Steffan Todorovic. They only debuted last year but have since offered up four EPs on four different labels, each with their own vibe. This one has a bulky old-school rave-house sound to 'Vapordisk' and the and dance floor dynamite keeps on coming with 'Acidflex'. It's 3 am business on 'Vela' - a smooth and cruising groover with nice drum loops and tripped-out breaks close out with 'New Horizons'. Super stuff.

Trip To The Moon Dubplates: Part 1 & 2
Trip To The Moon (part 1)
Trip To The Moon (part 2)
Review: Acen's 'Trip To The Moon' remains one of the formative building blocks of breakbeat hardcore, when the genre was an incubator for the weirdest experiments and there was no blueprint for the producers to follow. Now Kniteforce are reissuing the coveted 'Dubplate Mixes' of 'Trip II The Moon', and all old-skool ravers will be very happy about it too. These versions from the producer's own studio were previously only available to those with the keys to the kingdom, now everyone can savour the madcap brilliance of these rugged and raw workouts, spread out in two parts and featuring more sample trickery than a freeloader in a food market.

Fasla (feat SHBL-LBSH) (3:34)
Mawkif (4:47)
Hanshoof (4:37)
Review: Cairo based producer Hassan Abou Alam joins the revered ranks of the Banoffee Pies label here as it clocks up the 20th release. It is a punchy techno offering that opens with the roaming, brain-numbing leads of 'Kesibt' (feat SHBL-LBSH). The bass comes heavy, the percussion is raw, the refracted vocal a great hook. 'Fasla' (feat SHBL-LBSH) is hyperdrive double-time techno with wobbly bottom ends, 'Mawkif' further plays with the rules with its hopping hits and driving bass and this more original and inventive of offerings closes with 'Hanshoof', a physical bit of percussive techno funk.

Clay Figures (7:04)
Review: Japanese artist Hirotaka Umetani serves up four club ready joints here all though a rather distinctive UK bass lens. The Albino Sound EP on Turnend Tapes finds him "translating visual into sound through his own experience. The sound designs is immense, from crystalline leads to hallucinatory synths, tiny bits of sonic grit to perfect designed drums. The rhythms are inventive and minimal to make for hi fidelity and frusta techno that wouldn't sound out of place on Livity Sound. 'Jarring' might be the standout with its twisted metals and tribal percussion over a hefty groove.

Review: Voice Notes is a new imprint run by London underground veteran Toby Tobias with Alphonse. A five track various artist EP, Voice Notes 002 is a time-honoured memorial for its sister label London Housing Trust, that they shut down a few years ago after 10 releases. Featuring tracks by label boss Tobias who delivers some emotive electro on 'Streets Of Gold', his evil twin Alphonse on the UK flava of 'Rujac', plus introducing Dance with the dub techno deconstruction of 'Amber', Rodney Bennett with the classic Stateside deep house of 'Palm Sunday' and Pyramids of Space with the downbeat IDM journey 'Quantis'.

Go Go Gadget (5:28)
Review: Wex publishes yet another banger, this time under their German sub-label day by day with a new offering of elegant electronica by Anderson Musik (aka Matt Anderson) who has just finished a brief stint across Europe playing some star-studded setlists in London and Barcelona. 'Go Go Gadget EP' is a chemical compound of acid house and techno, a spacious journey into the retro-futuristic mean streets. Side A features something light and easy in 'Synthesised Happiness', a song best described as sounding how a soda tastes, whilst side B dons a more industrial cloak, turning up the intensity - only slightly - on 'Bon Fire'. Make no mistake, 'Go Go Gadget' is a sugary treat across all four tracks - be prepared for the sourness though.

Ultraviolet (8:34)
Oditty (6:12)
I Dream Of Shrimp (6:44)
Review: This rather unique and otherworldly EP from Dan Andrei is a world all unto itself. While this is a mood conveyed by its somewhat Lovecraftian front cover, the three tracks found inside are equally rare in sound. Matter-of-fact and up-front, yet tentacular, the sonics heard on the lead track 'Ultraviolet' and the closer 'I Dream Of Shrimp' put forward a kind of alien honesty, as if our extraterrestrial visitors have absolutely no fear, and come in peace. It's no wonder this music is able to bridge gaps; it's seen the Romanian artist butt heads with the best and brightest in the international breaks and minimal scene, of late.

Relaxerciser (7:38)
Review: British producer, party set designer and DJ Angel D'Lite is known for her sickly sweet and high energy mixes and solo work. An avid vinyl collector and happy hardcore indulger, '303 Dalmations' feels like biting into a sour sweet and the headrush from the sugar high thereafter. 'Just Trippin' and '7am' are evocative of the 90s records that D'Lite digs for in her local shops and collection and are bubbly dance tracks with classic breakbeats (Producers will recognise the opening amen break vocal sample on 'Liquid Skies' very well). The feel of the EP is a classic club experience, and you can't help but dance along and smile - as D'Lite says herself "Happy Hardcore is good for the soul".

Review: French finesse with German fusion... Willis Anne makes his Shall Not Fade debut with this killer 'Movement' EP. As with previous missives on his LAN imprint, the beats roam and romp freely between footwork, jungle and ghetto-tek with strong twangs of Detroit bringing it all together. Highlights include the wonderful layers of organs and vibrant chords of 'Direct Effect' and the fully-swung breakbeats and bellowing sub of 'Unison'. Get moving.

Silence After The Storm (6:06)
Review: The Fourier label is back with more minimal dance floor magic, and the second release is a collaborative affair packed with talent. It's Aztec, Dark Male, Rob Bellfield and The Vast Profound who all come through here and start off with 'Sweet Music', a nice balmy and dubby cut for zoned out listening .'Unlimited Apex' pairs pensive basslines with smeared and expansive pads, then 'Standard Model' has a more warped and mind-melting cosmic take on warm, deep rolling tech. 'Silence After The Storm' is the gorgeously serene closer. Classy stuff for sure.

Sub Roll (6:18)
Review: Following in the footsteps of similarly minded contemporaries Tom Carruthers and Dawl, Mike Ash pops up on the revitalised Ozone Recordings with an EP rich in authentically sparse, sub-heavy bleep & bass cuts of the sort that were all the rage in Yorkshire back in the day. A-side 'Robotik' is, in effect, a loving tribute to Man Machine's 1990 single 'Man Machine' (the bassline and electronic motifs are very similar), with slightly more jacking drums. 'Bleep Off Again' continues in a similar vein, with Ash adding sparse, alien bleep melodies and fuzzy electronic stabs to another beefy bassline and skittish TR-909 beats, while 'Sub Roll' is a pleasingly intergalactic affair full of Rob Gordon style bass, dreamy 'LFO' pads and sparkling lead lines.

In Your Eyes (6:03)
Review: Audiojack have been UK underground mainstays for some time. They make a trip across the pond to Claude Von Stroke's US label Dirtybird here and take with them their useful house sounds. 'Stay Strong' has been heard on dance floors for a while now and brings lush melodies to a spaced out breakbeat rhythm. It's warm and dreamy without ever losing sight of the groove and is backed with 'In Your Eyes'. This one also builds around a clean, crispy breakbeat with a slight hint of electro. The melodies are delightfully clean and reflective, as if programmed by some futuristic AI. They dance around the lithe groove which is underpinned with a booming bassline which carries you off into a cosmic night sky.

Mud (Control Freak remix) (5:49)
Review: Austrian fracturist makes his debut on Control Freak with 'Solidify', a stark set of abstract club flavours. Wholly unclassifiable - as we've come to know and love from the man - each cut could sit in a number of selection ranges from techno to ghetto. 'What A Mess' is an upbeat stamp-about that's rather Photekian in its nature, 'Woodpecker' is a loose-limbed strut that flexes around the UK funky axis while 'Glyph' is a sparse sojourn into a 23rd century dub techno. Rounding up the EP we have the wonderfully wonky 'Mud' and a killer floor-burning remix from the label to sign out. Solid.

Already an established podcast mix series, now a fully-fledged label, this launch release lays down everything we need to know as we flip and fly between the flavours. Cats like Lou Raw lay down golden woozy UKG skippery, B is all about the lo-fi flavours and warm and warping house and Olli Oski and EE bring the EP to a wonderful psycho dub finale. What an entry EP.

Review: Baldo is the Barcelona-based tech house producer who helms labels like Neovinyl, BLD Tape, Curated By Time and Physical Education. It's the latter he returns to with this latest drop, the springy, bouncy Groove Radiance 12". 'Hotplay' leads the way with synths that might well take you back to the early days of electro house in the mid 00s, which Paramida then steams up good n' proper with their 'Hotpants' remix. '1998' keeps things juicy and jumping on the flip, slipping tiny slithers of breakbeat and acid into the mix for Liquid Earth to have a lot of fun remixing into a rolling trip monster.

Review: Bassrace was the short-lived collaboration between Nick Hook & Morgan Kick which resulted in two EPs around the beginning of the nineties. The second one, Futurama, was released in 1991 and is reissued here courtesy of Berlin's Sound Metaphors featuring all the original tracks plus several remixes. The original versions on the A-side capture the true zeitgeist of trance during a seminal period of the genre, the Space mix in particular effectively incorporating breakbeats, while the reworks over on the flip by the Cocktail d'Amore affiliated Juan Ramos and Trent delve into more Balearic and Afro cosmic realms.

Review: There's a reason that 13Monkeys regulars Baymont Bross and Sekret Chadow have called this collaborative project 'The Unami Chefs'. According to their label, the EP is an attempt to blend classic breakbeats with a wide range of contemporary, cutting-edge dancefloor sounds. That aural 'recipe' comes through loud and clear on opener 'Mystic', a brilliant blend of electro, breaks, nods to vintage Orbital records and mind-mangling synths sounds. It's also evident on the similarly framed - but arguably cheerier and much more positive-sounding - 'Ekinozio', and the soaring, life-affirming, fiddle-sporting 'Many Lives', which wouldn't sound out of place on the Hartnoll brothers' most recent album. Arguably best of all though is closing cut 'Chupasaops', a thrilling chunk of acid-breaks insanity that's as addictive as it is fun.
