… Read moreThe Xjam is a small, full-fledged plug-and-play MIDI controller. Due to its solid aluminum chassis, the Xjam is wonderfully portable and ideal for use outside of the studio on mobile devices.
With a 4x4 pad matrix, the 6 endless encoders and the smooth 16 pads, it provides a pleasant and expressive playing experience. In addition, the Xjam offers 48 configurations instead of the usual 16 scenes to save.
Its smooth and ultra-sensitive pads with polyphonic aftertouch are as versatile as the Xjam is in general. The 16 RGB pads also send MIDI CC, MIDI Program Change or MMC messages. There are also 6 high-quality endless encoders on board, which can be used in a variety of ways. In addition to controlling MIDI CC messages, the encoders can be assigned to send pitch, MIDI program change messages or even aftertouch messages. The Domino is an analogue all-in-one synth voice with saw/square wave oscillator, ladder type low pass filter, envelope and VCA - it is designed for pure beefiness and grunt in the low end department. It excels at basslines, acid, kicks and low throbbing drones.
The core of the module is a dual waveforms oscillator with saw and square. The pulse width of the square can be modulated with the PWM input.
The pitch knob over a range is of 1 octave, designed to be used primarily in lower ranges. The CV input control the oscillator pitch in v/oct but is also normalised to the f Mod input. When the f mod potentiometer is fully open, the filter can be controlled in v/oct. Since the filter as self-oscillation capabilities, you can also use it as an oscillator.
The decay envelope is controlling the filter cutoff and is normalized to the oscillator pitch input.
The Domino provides two envelopes control options with its gate>VCA and envelope>VCA switch, allowing you to choose between using a gate signal or the decay envelope to shape the VCA response.
The Mix knob enables blending between the saw and square waves. Connect external sound sources to the Mix 1 and Mix 2 inputs to replace the saw wave and square wave, respectively.

This is a 5 Band Graphic Equalizer in 1U format, 12 hp. Together with the R/K Bipolar Crossfader, suitable for a sidechain effect, this EQ will provide a natural way to give more a more mastered allure to the mix coming out of the rack (all this without reading manuals, holding/pressing buttons and all the rest)
One of the reasons for releasing this small equalizer is that it is a nice match to waveshapers. You might noticed that waveshapers, folders, etc. rarely give interesting results with LP filters after them. That's because they're inherently on opposite poles, wavefolders being an anti filter by themselves producing overharmonics that often won't stand well a bulk LP filtering while with fixed filter banks (EQ). They give nice results transforming waveshapers into inexhaustible source of more mastered timbres. This is pretty much the same with wavetables, often very rich in harmonics.
Beside this, EQs have always been an essential tool in music & sound, somehow slightly overlooked in the eurorack world. The horizontal aspect of 1U is a natural format for EQ, so here it is in avery small footprint, only 12hp. A must have in a 1U row.
Isotita EQ provides controls over 5 frequency ranges: 100 Hz, 300 Hz, 1 kHz, 3 kHz, 10 kHz. It is recommended that you place the EQ after some attenuation (like after the mixer), to avoid clipping. Obviously, if desired, the clipping could be used in creative purposes. It will occur when more than one freq. control is pushed to the maximum, especially in the frequency range area where the incoming signal is richest.
Since the module is very compact even for 1U standards, it is a nice option for stereo patches. To have two of those - one for each channel, giving nice results in EQ-ed panning of stereo effects, etc.

If you're able to notice this, that means that you have a perfectly tuned high-end VCOs, even you're into eurorack/ Therefore, if critical, stay with your keyboard. Still, if you're a pro but a geek who loves this small punk keyboard - know that there are precision trimmers on the back and you can tune it to your taste!
