What makes uniK 05+ unique?

The new design of the crossover ensures an excellent phase response and safe power limitation, driving the woofer and tweeter in phase for optimal step response. The tweeter features a newly upgraded magnetostatic design with extremely low moving mass for extended frequency and fast transient response and high sound resolution. The matching woofer consists of a kevlar composite cone with high stiffness ensuring better piston motion and excellent low-end sound reproduction.

Another new feature is the flexible rubber feet with discrete height adjustment. They are not only helpful to reduce unwanted vibrations, but also allow you to tilt the speaker towards the precise listening point - a great feature for typical near field applications.

Other new special features that are not standard in this class are standby to save power consumption (can be disabled) and a ground lift switch.

No-Compromise Compact Monitor with on-board Lineariser and CoP.

The HEDD Type 05 mk2 is a 2-way active nearfield studio monitor with a 5" woofer, HEDD Air Motion Transformer, CoP Technology and integrated Lineariser.

The HEDD Type 05 mk2 features two 100 Watt amps to power its 5" woofer and AMT tweeter providing a frequency response of 45Hz to 50kHz and powerful dynamics with max SPL of 112dB.

Introducing the IN-UNF, an Ultra-Nearfield studio monitor system specifically made for use on your desk. With reference level full-range audio at 0.8 meters, a detailed, intimate view of your mix is only arm's length away.

Designed For Your Desk

The IN-UNF is specifically designed to sit on your desk, and your desk is incorporated as an acoustic member of the system. Reflections from the drivers to the desk to your ears are accounted for, giving you a perfectly clear picture of your mix that you can rely on to translate well.

The IN-UNF consists of three main pieces: a bass unit and two satellites. The bass unit houses two high-excursion 4.5-Inch woofers as well as the amplifier and other electronics for the system. Setup Options:
Set the bass unit vertically so that it takes up less space and you can put your monitor in front of it.

Set the bass unit horizontally and use it as a monitor riser. Because of the horizontally-opposed woofers, the IN-UNF won't transfer vibration to your desk, or to anything that's sitting on top of it.

A speaker placed against a wall or on a desk will sound very different than a speaker placed on a stand, even in a well-treated space. Hard surfaces like walls, desk tops, and recording consoles can change the low end frequency response of the monitor, and degrade the overall clarity of the sound.

Happily, most of the common positions are fairly predictable and easily corrected.

Kali's team did the Boundary EQ tuning at The Village Studios in Los Angeles, and came up with boundary compensation EQ settings to help you get the optimum sound for where you need to put your speakers. For the 2nd Wave, the boundary EQs have been updated for using the speakers on a desk with monitor stands.

Combined with the LF and HF trims, this will ensure that the speakers sound their best no matter what room you're mixing in, or where the speakers are placed.

Easy Connections

The LP-6 and LP-8 both feature balanced XLR and TRS inputs, and an unbalanced RCA input.

The RCA input can be set to -10 dBu sensitivity when you're using consumer devices like a laptop or smartphone's headphone jack.

In order to dampen resonance peaks at higher frequencies, conventional dome tweeters are injected with fluid to raise their mass, sacrificing transient response time. By contrast, the custom-designed AMT tweeter in the R80 uses an incredibly thin, folded Kapton membrane (< 0.01 mm) with an inlayed aluminum circuit functioning as the voice coil, allowing the tweeter to move at the same instant as the electric current. The resulting reactive response time provides marked clarity and superior transient reproduction.

Wide, consistent stereo image:
An unfolded AMT tweeter diaphragm provides 8 to 13 times the projection area of a traditional 1-inch dome tweeter, enabling R80 monitors to provide a much wider stereo soundstage than traditional designs. At the same time, the R80 provides a very limited vertical dispersion, which helps to reduce reflections from the ceiling and desktop that can cause phase coherence issues. The MSP3, a compact reference monitor speaker loved for many years, has been renewed as the MSP3A. This new reference monitor is the first in this series to include our Twisted Flare Port technology and provides an even clearer and tighter low-end while also realizing faithful sound reproduction.

The built-in 22W power amplifier is optimized for the speaker unit, which comprises a 10 cm (4") woofer and a 2.2 cm (.87") tweeter, to achieve a clear and natural reference sound.

The cabinet features a refined, simple design and weighs a mere 3.6 kilograms (7.9 pounds), making it easy to reposition and carry to different locations. Just like its predecessor, this monitor has multiple input connectors and controls, and is compatible with a variety of optional brackets, making it useful for a wide range of uses. These include serious audio and music monitoring in settings from small-scale studios to broadcast and post-production suites, as well as monitoring audio from digital musical instruments and ICT devices, and surround sound playback.

Twisted Flare Port technology, which is included in the MSP3A for the first time in this series, is an aerodynamic sound control technology that we at Yamaha have created by leveraging our extensive subwoofer development experience. Using it, we apply aerodynamic sound analysis and flow visualization measurement technologies to pinpoint and control noise generation mechanisms. Noise-generating air flow turbulence at both ends of the port is suppressed by changing how the port widens from input to output and adding a twist to it. Suppressing turbulence reduces bothersome muddiness in the sound and lowers the amount of noise generated at the port ends. This strengthens the connection between the sound and main speaker and delivers clear, tight low frequencies along with pitch and rhythm.
